Zbigniew Brisinsky on Supplying Arms

So ironic the Secretary of State of the Carter administration (who began funding for the Afghan mujahideen) says this extremely true thing about the nature of supplying weapons to the conflict in Syria:

You can’t start supplying arms to someone, without becoming engaged in the consequences of that. You can’t maintain that kind of sealed detachment from the supply of arms and eventual engagement in the process, especially if the supply of arms itself creates temptations to spread that war.

About 24 minutes in (PBS video).

Violence in general is abhorrent. The Bible says nations that wage war will themselves by devoured by violence.State power is incredibly based upon coercion. But for example, Obama’s intervention in Libya killed his ambassador there; FDR never had to deal with a war in Tripoli to derail the New Deal. Violence always introduces a variable event which upsets an otherwise stable prediction.
