Montanism – n. A heretical sect of Christianity. It originated (c. 150-72) in Phrygia with Montanus, who claimed a continuing revelatory gift of the Holy Spirit and prophesized the imminent return of Christ. Tertullian encouraged its ascetism and acceptance of martyrdom. The sect lost its importance in the West by the 3rd c. but continued in Asia Minor until supressed by Justinian in the mid-6th c.)
If one converts to a religion, it should be a heretical, gnostic religion that was wiped out centuries ago. I stole a book from my bourgeois uncle, “Hilyat-ul Awliya wa Tabaqat al-Asfiya (The Beauty of the Righteous & Ranks of the Elite)”, by the 10th century scholar Shaykh Muhammad al-Akili. Its a lost work, no longer published in Arabic, and now $25 from Pearl Publishing House (an eclectic array of Sufi and orthodox Islamic books).
Its the stories of the Muslim saints, the poverty they lived in and such.
Malik bin Dinar narrated that al-Hassan saw Omar bin al-Khattab during his caliphate delivering a sermon and wearing a cloak patched in some twelve places.
— That’s true religion right there.
